Christopher posted an update
Good morning all. I want to provide an update from my question yesterday on the Saturday morning IM Live, in case it should happen to any of you. Recall I had sourced a product, sent it in via the Prep Center, all with no issues on our side. But once in and active, Amazon Search Suppressed the listing with a link “Fix Listing Issue” which required product descriptions and a few other related fields. As Adam correctly pointed out, only the owner of the ASIN is supposed to provide such information, and yet Amazon insisted I cooperate. I provided that information initially (I used ChatGPT by the way, to craft nice description 😉 ), but I was subsequently gated along with the Search Suppression. I went back and forth in the opened case with Amazon, explaining to them in painstaking detail how I was not the ASIN owner etc. After the third or fourth go-around in 1-2 weeks, it was explained to me that the ASIN owner failed to comply with the description field requests, and somehow among the various FBA and FBM Sellers, I was the low man on the totem pole so to speak, so I was being tasked with completing this. So Amazon ungated me and informed me that after 48 hours, I would be opened to filling out those fields (again) and getting it active. So I did so, (using CHATGPT again), and was informed by Amazon that my descriptions became the binding descriptions across all listing of that ASIN for all FBA and FBM Sellers.. It was then activated (this final piece was actually during Adam’s training yesterday morning) and continues to be active.
So just in case this happens to any of my fellow students, do what you have to. Yes Amazon can be frustrating, but as the Stoic Masters say, “the obstacle is the way.”
